Future Vocational Nurses
Constitution Article I: Name The name of this organization shall be: Blinn College Future Vocational Nurses Association Article II. Purpose, Function and Power Section A: Purpose To provide a forum for student expression. To participate as an organization in class, state, community, and school functions. To set precedence for future classes. To promote and provide highest quality health care. To help provide education in the prevention of illness. To promote in each individual of the BCFVNA a desire for good citizenship based on democratic processes. Section B: Function Have direct input in school functions concerning vocational nursing students. Promote and encourage unity as an organization in all student activities. Promote and encourage participation in student activities and educational opportunities regardless of sex, race, nationality, religion, economic status, handicap, or age. Democratic process will be utilized for all decision making within the organization. Section C: Power All powers of the BCFVNA are derived from the consent of the Director of Student Activities, who has the right to revoke any or all activities of the organization. Article III. Membership Section A. Vocational Nursing students enrolled at Blinn College and maintain the minimal scholastic requirements for the Blinn College Vocational Nursing Program are eligible for membership in BCFVNA and may hold office. Alumni are eligible for membership but may not hold office. Section B. Active members must pay dues, attend at tleas half of the meetings scheduled, and maintain a minimum of the requirements as approved by the organization. If a member does not maintain minimum requirements, at the end of the semester there will be a probation period of one semester in which time the requirements are to be obtained. If requirements are not obtained at the end of the probation period, the member will be considered inactive and ineligible for benefits of the organization until minimum requirements are met. Article IV: Dues Section A: The membership of this organization shall determine a reasonable dues structure by majority vote of those present at any called or scheduled meeting that meets the requirements of Article V of these bylaws. Article V: Meetings Section A: This organization shall hold two regular meetings per month on dates selected by the membership. The organization may have other meetings as may be called by any duly elected officer or by two members requesting such meeting in writing provided members are notified of such meeting. Article VI. Amendments Section A: Any amendment to these bylaws may be adopted by two-thirds vote of the members, present and voting, at a regular or special meeting provided a written notice of the proposed amendment has been given to the membership at least one week or seven calendar days prior to the meeting. Article VII. Adoption Section A. Approval of these bylaws by two-thirds of those active members present and voting shall constitute adoption. Article VIII. Officers and Advisor/Sponsor Section A: The officers of this organization shall be President, Vice-President, Secretary, Reporter/Historian, Treasurer, Student Government Representative. These officers shall be elected at the second meeting of the Fall semester. The term of office shall be one year. Section B. 1. President: a. Preside at all meetings of the organization and Executive Council. b. Call special meetings. c. Appoint committees and serve as ex-officio member. d. Represent BCFVNA at all public occasions. 2. Vice President: a. Perform the duties of the President when he/she is absent. b. Succeed to the office of the President is case of vacancy. c. Presiden when the President wishes to participate in a discussion. d. Maintain records of Activity Point System. 3. Secretary: a. Prepre an agenda prior to all meetings in cooperation with the executive committee. b. Check roll at all meetings. c. Record minutes of all meetings and submit to members. d. Conduct all correspondence work of the organization. 4. Treasurer: a. Keep an accurate account of all funds. b. Give financial reports at each meeting. 5. Reporter: a. Be responsible for assembling the BCFVNA scrap book. b. Be responsible for public relations. 6. Committee Chairpersons: a. Keep an accurate roll at committee meetings. b. Coordinate all committee meetings and activities. c. Give report of committee to the organization. 7. Student Council Representative: a. Attend all Student Council meetings or delegate another on the committee to attend. b. Give report of Student Council activities to BCFVNA. Section C: Executive Committee: a. Shall be composed of all the officers and sponsor/advisor. b. Shall plan the order of business for regular meetings. c. Two-thirds of members shall constitute a quorum.
