Credit Reports

If your business goals include obtaining funding, it is to your advantage to secure a copy of your credit report early in the process. Your credit report contains details about your financial behavior and history. Reviewing your credit report allows you to see the information lenders will see when they look at your credit history. There are two types of reports available: personal and commercial.

By law you may obtain one free personal credit report annually from each of the three credit agencies. Another tool that is also valuable, but not free, is your credit score. Credit scoring is used to determine many factors in the lending process. You are encouraged to secure your credit score along with the credit report from each agency.

Obtain your free personal credit report in one of three ways:

1. Online at: www.annualcreditreport.com. This is the fastest method, as your report will be available online immediately.
2. By calling 1-877-322-8228.
3. By printing out the request form (pdf file ~ opens in new window) and mailing it to:
   Annual Credit Report Request Service, PO Box 105281, Atlanta GA 30348-5281.

To secure a copy of your business credit rating, use this information:

  or call (866) 472-7362.

If you intend to use our counseling service, we ask that you request your credit report now. You will be called to arrange for a counseling session once you have returned your questionnaire. During your initial visit, you will be asked for your credit information.
