Biological/Chemical Threat

In the world today, there is the possibility of a biological/chemical weapons threat to our country.  Some of the most likely biological agents to be used are anthrax, botulism toxin, plague, smallpox, tularemia and viral hemorrhagic fevers such as ebola.  Those chemicals listed among the most likely are sulfur mustards, VX, sarin, chlorine and hydrogen cyanide.

In the event of a biological/chemical threat, Blinn College will assume command.  The person reporting the incident must notify the campus police as soon as it is safe to do so.  If possible, the person reporting the incident should advise the police of the type of organism/chemical that is suspect.  The affected area should be isolated for the safety and security of others.  If necessary the building engineer has the capability to shut down the ventilation to the room and/or building in which the incident occurred.  Accountability of persons exposed is of high priority.
