Keith and Elizabeth Twiggs establish second endowed scholarship at Blinn College

Scholarship is designated for nursing students from Washington County

October 11, 2021

Keith and Elizabeth Twiggs gifted $20,000 to the Blinn College Foundation to establish a new endowed scholarship for students from Washington County to study nursing.

This marks the second endowed scholarship funded by the Twiggs. They funded an endowed scholarship in 2013 that is awarded annually to a member of the Blinn College band.

“Blinn College has a long history of producing highly qualified graduates who have chosen nursing as a career,” Keith Twiggs said. “We are firm believers in the quality of education that Blinn College provides and we’re very happy to help deserving students achieve their career goals and join the nursing profession.”

The Foundation oversees almost 300 endowed scholarships. Each, Foundation Board Chair Sam Sommer said, helps students who otherwise might not be able to attend college.

“These scholarships can be game changers for many students,” Sommer said. “Donations to establish endowed scholarships help generation after generation of deserving young men and women attend college. The Foundation’s work is made a lot easier because of the generosity of people like Keith and Elizabeth Twiggs.”

Scholarships are available to incoming and returning students from a wide range of backgrounds, majors, and experiences.

The Foundation also provides financial support for programs and activities that enhance the quality of education for Blinn students, looks to heighten community awareness of the mission and accomplishments of the College, and promotes excellence in education.

More information on funding an endowed scholarship or applying is available at www.blinn.edu/foundation or by calling 979-830-4017.

Current high school and college students can apply for all Blinn scholarships through a single application at www.blinn.edu/scholarships. Prior to applying for scholarships, students must complete their application for admission to Blinn College at www.goapplytexas.org.
