Blinn College Rocket League esports team takes 3-0 win over Eastern Kentucky
Team improves to 2-1 on season; Valorant league play begins tonight

The Blinn College Rocket League esports team picked up its second win of the season Tuesday night with a 3-0 victory over Eastern Kentucky University.
The win put the Rocket League team’s record at 2-1. Team members are Zach Matthews (Conroe), Jake Sansom (Friendswood), Jack Barry (Houston), and Kyle Jones (Gilmer).
Coach Aaron Kapiko said Jones was the player of the match and the team “performed very well and was dominant” in its win.
Rocket League is a high-speed video game in which teams use vehicles to try and knock a ball into their opponent’s goal.
The Valorant season begins tonight with a match against Wayland Baptist University. Blinn’s Overwatch team, which is 3-0 on the season, plays Florida Southern College on Thursday.
League play in Smash Brothers Ultimate will begin Friday, with Blinn taking on Wayland Baptist University.
Blinn is one of only a few community colleges in the region offering esports scholarships, competing in the National Association of College Esports against two-year colleges and four-year universities.
