The Blinn College Rocket League esports team notched two more wins Tuesday night, taking matches with the University of Missouri Club Esports B and Southwest Minnesota State University.

Blinn is now 5-1 on the season and tied with Park University for second place in its group with 10 points in six matches. Marian University is unbeaten and leads the group with 12 points in six matches. Blinn plays Marian University next Tuesday.

“Overall they looked quite strong,” coach Aaron Kapiko said of his team’s performance Tuesday.

Rocket League team members competing were Zach Matthews (Conroe), Jack Barry (Houston), and Kyle Jones (Gilmer).

The top two in each group automatically qualify for a spot in the playoffs. The third and fourth place teams in each group will compete in a single elimination play-in, with the winner going to the playoffs.

Blinn’s Valorant team plays tonight against East Central University. Its unbeaten Overwatch team (5-0) plays Kaiser University-Sarasota on Thursday, and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate takes on the University of Texas at Dallas on Friday.

Blinn, one of only a few community colleges in the region offering esports scholarships, is in its inaugural season. It competes in the National Association of College Esports against two-year colleges and four-year universities.
