October 21, 2020

The Blinn College Rocket League esports team continued its impressive run with a win Tuesday night over Shenandoah University.

The 3-0 win put Blinn at 6-1 on the season. A second match Tuesday with group leader Marian University was rescheduled for tonight.

Members of Blinn’s Rocket League team are Zach Matthews (Conroe), Jack Barry (Houston), and Kyle Jones (Gilmer).

The top two in each group automatically qualify for a spot in the playoffs. The third and fourth place teams in each group will compete in a single elimination play-in, with the winner going to the playoffs.

Blinn’s 2-0 Valorant team plays East Central University tonight. Its Super Smash Bros. Ultimate team has a Friday match with Texas A&M University-San Antonio.

Blinn launched its esports program this fall, competing as a member of the National Association of College Esports against two-year colleges and four-year universities.
