Brenham Campus enrollment increases 13.6 percent over last year

February 18, 2019

The Blinn College District registered 16,979 students for the Spring 2019 semester.

Blinn’s largest increase came on the Brenham Campus, which enrolled 2,231 students, up 267 students from the previous Spring. Blinn’s online course enrollment continued to grow, with 2,397 students registered for online-only classes, up 128 students from the previous year.

In Bryan, Blinn registered 8,417 students and the RELLIS Campus enrolled 1,505 in its first Spring semester. High school dual credit enrollment increased to 1,659 students, the Schulenburg Campus enrolled 131 students, and the Sealy Campus registered 88 students. District-wide enrollment increased 77 students compared to Spring 2018.

Blinn’s enrollment includes 1,058 students in the TEAM Program, a collaborative, co-enrollment partnership between Blinn and Texas A&M University. TEAM students enroll in one or two academic courses at Texas A&M each semester and take the remainder of their courses at Blinn.

An additional 609 students are enrolled in the Texas A&M Engineering Academy at Blinn-Bryan, which allows students to co-enroll in Blinn and the Texas A&M College of Engineering. Students in this program take their Texas A&M engineering courses on the Texas A&M campus and their Blinn courses at the RELLIS Campus.

Blinn’s enrollment also includes 104 students in the Texas A&M Engineering Academy at Blinn-Brenham. Through this co-enrollment partnership, students attend their Blinn and Texas A&M courses at the Blinn-Brenham Campus while participating in a living and learning community in the newly constructed Mill Creek Hall.

District-wide, Blinn totaled 3,012,304 contact hours, an increase of 20,848 over Spring 2018, and 164,233 credit hours, an increase of 2,962.

Blinn enrolled 1,077 students for its Spring 12-week courses, which began Monday, Feb. 11. That total includes 345 students who are unique to the 12-week term and not enrolled in the traditional 16-week Spring semester, adding to the Spring 2019 headcount. An additional 227 students have registered for the Spring second 8-week term, already exceeding the 2018 Spring second 8-week enrollment total. The 2019 second 8-week term begins Monday, March 18.

According to the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board’s www.collegeforalltexans.com/, out-of-district Blinn students who enroll in 30 credit hours during the 2018-19 academic year save 42 percent in tuition and fees compared to the average tuition and fees at Texas public universities. In addition to Blinn’s low tuition and fees, the Blinn Foundation offers more than 200 endowed scholarships available to incoming and returning students from a wide range of backgrounds, majors, and experiences. Students can complete a single application to apply for all Blinn scholarships by visiting www.blinn.edu/scholarships.

Registration for Blinn’s Spring 8-week courses is available through Sunday, March 17. For more information, visit www.blinn.edu.
