February 20, 2018

The Blinn College Board of Trustees has authorized College administrators to negotiate and execute a lease agreement that will provide instructional space for Blinn College health science students at The Texas A&M University System’s RELLIS Campus.

During Tuesday’s regular meeting, the board authorized College officials to negotiate with the Texas A&M System regarding an agreement on a 30-year term for 16,370 square feet of space in the RELLIS Academic Complex.

Currently based in the Texas A&M Health Science Center Clinical Building I, Blinn’s Division of Health Sciences includes programs in associate degree nursing, emergency medical services, fire science, health information technology, physical therapist assistant, radiologic technology, surgical technology, and vocational nursing. Blinn’s Dental Hygiene Program, also a member of the Division of Health Sciences, is based at the College’s Post Office Campus at 301 Post Office Street in Bryan.

In Fall 2018, Blinn will be expanding to its academic facility at The Texas A&M University System RELLIS Campus to allow Blinn students to complete their four-year degrees from Texas A&M System regional universities onsite. Each program at the RELLIS Academic Alliance creates a seamless pathway for students to earn a bachelor’s degree in related fields from an A&M System University, including Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, Prairie View A&M University, Tarleton State University, Texas A&M University-International, West Texas A&M University, Texas A&M University-Texarkana, Texas A&M University-Kingsville and Texas A&M University-Central Texas. Trustees also approved a resolution of acceptance for a $15,230 BG18 Rifle-Resistant Body Armor Grant offered through the Office of the Governor – Criminal Justice Division. This grant will fund the purchase of rifle-resistant body armor for 21 Blinn police officers.
