Blinn sees increase in Summer II enrollment

Registration for the Fall semester is open until classes begin Aug. 27

July 17, 2018

The Blinn College District continued to build momentum toward the Fall semester with 4,286 students registering for the Summer II session.

This year’s Summer II total was a slight increase over the 4,265 students who enrolled in the 2017 Summer II term. This year’s enrollment includes 2,264 students enrolled in online courses, 1,671 students on the Blinn-Bryan Campus, and 212 students at Blinn-Brenham. Students enrolled in 290,640 Summer II contact hours.

Blinn also saw a slight increase in May Minimester and Summer I enrollment this year.

As Blinn continues to register students for the Fall semester, it also prepares to open Mill Creek Hall, a 464-bed student housing facility on the Brenham Campus, and the Walter C. Schwartz Building at The Texas A&M University System’s RELLIS Campus.

At RELLIS, students can complete four-year degrees from the Texas A&M System regional universities onsite. Each program at the RELLIS Academic Alliance creates a seamless pathway for students to earn a bachelor’s degree in related fields from an A&M System university. For more information regarding the RELLIS Academic Alliance, visit https://rellis.tamus.edu/AcademicAlliance.

At the Brenham Campus, Blinn offers more on-campus housing than any other Texas community college. As the home to Blinn’s agricultural sciences, athletics, music, and theatre programs, the Brenham Campus offers a vibrant campus community enhanced by the activities and programs that offer students opportunities to explore, learn, and develop both inside and outside the classroom.

Located just minutes from Texas A&M University, Blinn’s Bryan Campus offers a personalized education with all the benefits of being located in a large college town, and serves approximately 12,000 students each fall.

Blinn’s Schulenburg and Sealy campuses bring the College’s strong academic programs to an intimate campus environment where students enjoy small class sizes and one-on-one learning opportunities.

Blinn’s academic transfer rate of 36.9 percent ranks second in the state and far exceeds the statewide average of 20.9 percent. In addition to transfer agreements with the state’s leading four-year universities, Blinn is home to pioneering co-enrollment programs such as the Texas A&M-Blinn TEAM Program and the Texas A&M Engineering Academies at Blinn.

According to the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board’s CollegeForAllTexans.com, out-of-district Blinn students who enroll in 30 credit hours during the 2018-19 academic year save 42 percent in tuition and fees compared to students at public universities across the state.

In addition to Blinn’s low tuition and fees, the Blinn Foundation offers 201 endowed scholarships available to incoming and returning students from a wide range of backgrounds, majors, and experiences. Students are considered based on high academic achievement, participation in student activities, and community involvement. To apply for all of Blinn’s endowed scholarships, complete a single application at www.blinn.edu/finaid/scholar.html.

Registration is now open for Blinn’s Fall semester, which begins Monday, Aug. 27. College officials recommend that students register early to reserve high-demand courses. Blinn’s first payment deadline takes place at the end of the day Wednesday, July 18, and beginning Friday, July 20, payment is due the same day as registration.
