Blinn SBDC offers basic QuickBooks course

All-day workshop teaches small business owners to get the most from their desktop accounting software

The Blinn College Small Business Development Center (SBDC) is hosting a basic QuickBooks course Wednesday, Aug. 15, to teach small business owners to get the most out of their desktop accounting software.

The course will take place from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. with an hour off for lunch, and provides hands-on experience for QuickBooks desktop version users. Topics include setting up your records, invoices, deposits and checks, accounts payable and receivable, bank and credit card account reconciliation, and running reports. The Blinn SBDC provides each attendee reference materials and a desktop computer to use during the course.

The workshop will be held at the A.W. Hodde, Jr. Technical Education Center located at 2910 S. Blue Bell Road. Registration is $100 per person and is available at www.blinn.edu/sbdc. Pre-registration and pre-payment are required.

The class will be taught by Julie Gilmer, CPA and certified QuickBooks advisor.

The Blinn College SBDC is a business advising and training center of the University of Houston Texas Gulf Coast SBDC Network serving 32 counties in Southeast Texas. The SBDC program is funded in part through a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Small Business Administration.
