Blinn College District Chamber Choir accepting holiday performance bookings

All proceeds benefit the choir’s upcoming trip to study music in Spain

October 31, 2018

The Blinn College District Chamber Choir is accepting bookings for holiday parties and other events as it raises funds for an upcoming educational trip to Spain.

“This fundraiser provides our students an opportunity to raise money while sharing their music with the community,” said Dr. Paulo Gomes, Brenham Campus Choral Director. “We appreciate all the support we receive in support of Blinn College’s music programs.”

For a minimum donation of $500, 15 to 20 Chamber Choir students will sing a variety of traditional and holiday songs for 30 minutes. Proceeds will fund up to one-third of the total cost for the choir students to study and perform in Spain. Students will be responsible for paying for the remaining two-thirds of the trip.

Blinn College choir students will travel to Spain May 13-22 and perform at Granada, Seville, and Niguelas.

“This trip is a great way for our students to experience cross-cultural diversity, language, and music,” Gomes said.

In addition to the three concerts, the choir will visit tourist attractions such as Manuel de Falla House Museum and the University of Granada.

“Manuel de Falla is one of the most famous composers in the world, so we are going to learn about  him while we are there,” Gomes said. “This trip is a way to help the students see a different way of music making, not only in a college environment, but in a different culture.”

To book the Blinn College Choir for a holiday event, please contact Paulo Gomes at 979-830-4239 or paulo.gomes@blinn.edu. Performances should be scheduled before Friday, Dec. 14. Checks should be made out to the Blinn College Foundation.
