Since 2015, the Ryan Auto Group Scholarship has provided financial assistance to students in the Sealy and Bellville area attending Blinn College-Sealy. Ryan Kirkpatrick, owner of Ryan Auto Group, donates $4,000 to the Blinn College Foundation each year to cover tuition and costs of books for one to two students on the Sealy Campus.

“The Ryan Auto Group Scholarship is a huge asset to have available for our students at the Blinn-Sealy Campus,” said Sam Sommer, Blinn Foundation Chair. “We are thankful for his annual gift that benefits our students.”

Ryan Kirkpatrick had been a sponsor of Blinn-Sealy fundraisers before deciding he wanted to give more.

“I wanted to create a yearly scholarship because higher education is crucial to the Sealy community,” Kirkpatrick said. “My hope is to one day employ a scholarship recipient at Ryan Auto Group.”

In the last four years, eight students have received scholarships. The scholarship also is available to high school students enrolled in dual-credit courses at Blinn-Sealy.

“The Sealy Community and Blinn College are fortunate to have someone like Ryan who understands the value of a college education and who is willing to help support local students in their pursuit of higher education,” said Lisa Caton, Sealy Campus Director. “Ryan has been a tremendous supporter of Blinn-Sealy and we cannot thank him enough for his generous donations.”

Freshman Deven Kalinec, a sociology major and member of the Student Government Association, was a recipient of the Ryan Auto Group Scholarship this year.

“I am very grateful for the scholarship because it has helped cut down the cost of my college education,” Kalinec said.
