The Blinn College-Bryan Campus Theatre Arts Program is bringing slapstick comedy and buffoonery to the local stage with Dario Fo’s, “Accidental Death of an Anarchist.”

Blinn will present the political farce at 7:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, Feb. 15-17, and at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 18, in Bryan Campus Student Center Room F-120 (map).

Performances are $5 for students and $10 for the general public. Seating is first-come, first-served. Tickets can be purchased at www.blinn.edu/boxoffice/bryan. For questions regarding ticket reservations, contact the Box Office at 979-209-8100. Tickets also will be available at the door.

Inspired by true events, “Accidental Death of an Anarchist” tells the story of an Italian radical – referred to as the Maniac – who shakes and stirs a police station into a frenzy. Considered a classic of 20th-century drama, the whimsical farce has been performed in more than 40 countries worldwide.

“This play takes a very biting look at political corruption encased in a slapstick, whacky comedy,” Blinn-Bryan Theatre Director Greg Wise said. “It is a timely production that is sure to make our audience laugh.”

Although the play is set in the 1970s, “Accidental Death of an Anarchist” delves into timeless issues that resonate across the generations. Audiences should note that the play contains adult language and themes.

“This play is definitely a people-pleaser,” said theatre student Jackson Ward, who portrays “Maniac” in the production. “Individuals of all ages will enjoy the humor and energy the cast brings to the stage.”

Following the Friday performance, the audience is invited to stay for a brief “Friday Night Talkback,” in which the director and actors return to the stage to discuss the production and answer questions from the audience.

Blinn’s Theatre Arts Program hosts a variety of performances each year on its Bryan and Brenham campuses, and offers a quality educational foundation through study, application and experience. The Theatre Arts Program is part of Blinn’s Division of Visual/Performing Arts & Kinesiology, which offers courses and hands-on learning opportunities in architecture, arts, communication studies, construction science, kinesiology, music, and theatre.

Registration for Blinn’s 12-week Spring courses is available through Sunday, Feb. 4. For enrollment or financial aid information, visit www.blinn.edu.
