The Blinn College-Brenham Campus Vocational Nursing Program recently delivered decorated pumpkins to the Kruse Village retirement community as part of a new program tradition that began last fall.

“They have a good time delivering the pumpkins and seeing the residents,” said Michelle Marburger, Director of the Blinn-Brenham Vocational Nursing Program.

Blinn vocational nursing students recently began performing clinical rotations at Kruse Village, working alongside Kruse Village staff to provide head-to-toe assessments, bathing, grooming, and activities.

In addition to their volunteer community service at Kruse Village, Blinn-Brenham Vocational Nursing students also participate in healthcare events on campus and Seniors Day, sponsored by Baylor Scott & White Healthcare in Brenham, each Spring. Blinn nursing students assist with measuring patients’ blood sugar and blood pressure, setting up and cleaning up at the event, and various other tasks.

Blinn offers vocational nursing programs in both Brenham and Bryan. The programs provide students the education and training needed to become highly skilled, licensed vocational nurses capable of working in a variety of medical settings.

Prospective students can join the Brenham Campus Vocational Nursing Program at its next face-to-face information session Thursday, Dec. 7, at 5:30 p.m. in Room 205 of the Arts & Sciences Building on the Brenham Campus (map).

The online information session is available through Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2018, at www.blinn.edu/twe/vocn_brenham/infosessions.php. Participants should allow themselves approximately one hour to complete the online session, which includes the same information as the face-to-face sessions. Applicants must score a 75 percent or higher on the quiz at the end of the online information session and submit a certificate of completion to begin the application process.
