Blinn-Schulenburg offers full slate of workforce, continuing education courses

Classes for Spring 2017 include basic computer series and Czech language classes

The Blinn College – Schulenburg Campus will offer a variety of workforce and continuing education courses in the coming months to help job seekers obtain new skills and credentials and fulfill students’ desire for lifelong learning opportunities.

Blinn will offer basic computer series, digital photography, Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft Excel, certified medication aide, Czech language, and watercolor painting courses.

The basic computer series covers beginning computers, keyboarding and the entire Microsoft Office Suite, and is being offered for no cost. This hands-on course is designed for beginners or those looking to brush up on skills for a new job or promotion, and is ideal for those returning to school or starting a business from home. Class begins Monday, Jan. 23, and will meet on campus in Room 127 from 6-8:30 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays.

Blinn’s digital photography online class begins Monday, Jan. 23, and runs through April 7. The $79 course meets at 6 p.m. on Jan. 23 for an orientation to eCampus online, and the rest of the course takes place online. A basic digital camera or phone with the ability to take photos will be needed.

A Microsoft Excel I online course begins Feb. 6 and ends March 10. There will be one class meeting at 6 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 6, for online orientation. The $79 course will cover the basics of the Excel spreadsheet program.

A certified medication aide course taught by registered nurse Linda Rabel is scheduled to begin March 28, and will meet on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings. Time and cost of the class is still to be determined. Students must be a certified nurse aide and employed in that capacity on at least a part-time basis to enroll.

Beginning, intermediate, and advanced Conversational Czech courses will be offered on campus classes or live online beginning the fourth week of January. The cost for this class has not yet been determined so interested students should contact the College.

Blinn’s watercolor painting flowers course will meet Thursday afternoons from 2-3:30 p.m. March 30 to April 27. Cost of the class is $79 and includes a basic watercolor kit.

Adobe Photoshop begins April 10 and runs through June 16. The $129 course meets at 6 p.m. on Monday, April 10, for online orientation, and the remainder of the course will be conducted online. Students will need access to Adobe Photoshop.
