Hardin-Simmons University, Blinn College partner to offer seamless transition program
More than 100 Blinn courses will transfer toward HSU bachelor’s degrees

June 26, 2017
A new agreement signed Monday, June 26, will provide a seamless pathway for Blinn College students to earn their bachelor’s degrees at Hardin-Simmons University (HSU).
Per the articulation agreement, more than 100 Blinn courses will transfer toward Hardin-Simmons bachelor’s degrees. The agreement goes into effect for the Fall 2017 semester, providing Blinn students with clear course comparisons and HSU admissions counselors who will help them apply for admission and scholarships. Students may transfer up to 66 credit hours toward an HSU bachelor’s degree.
“This collaboration provides a seamless and affordable pathway for students seeking to earn a bachelor’s degree from Hardin-Simmons,” said Dr. Mary Hensley, Blinn College District President/CEO. “This is a natural partnership between two remarkable institutions, and a win for high-achieving students across the state.”
The agreement began as a partnership between the Hardin-Simmons College of Fine Arts and Blinn’s Division of Visual/Performing Arts & Kinesiology, and recognizes 78 Blinn art, theatre, or music courses.
A private university located in Abilene, HSU has been affiliated with the Baptist General Convention of Texas since 1941. HSU provides an academically challenging undergraduate education based on a liberal arts foundation, and advances scholarly growth by offering specialized graduate and professional degree programs. Combining its commitment to academic excellence and a concern for the development of the total person with a distinctive Christian perspective, Hardin-Simmons serves students through quality educational programs designed to provide an education enlightened by faith.
“Hardin-Simmons wanted to reach out to Blinn because we have seen the quality of Blinn students who transfer to HSU and do well,” said Dr. Laura Pogue, HSU Dean of General Education. “Specifically in the Fine Arts, we have already established a healthy relationship with Blinn and knew we needed to clarify that pathway for students. We couldn’t be more excited to make this partnership official.”
Blinn’s academic transfer rate regularly ranks among the highest in the state and the nation. According to the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, Blinn’s academic transfer rate of 34.2 percent ranks second in the state and far exceeds the statewide average of 21.1 percent.
