Schulenburg to host inaugural cheer camp

Camp will be taught by former Baylor University and Indianapolis Colts cheerleader

June 20, 2016

A former Indianapolis Colts cheerleader will instruct Blinn College-Schulenburg’s inaugural cheer camp July 11-15.
The camp is for students entering fourth through the eighth grade and will take place on the Schulenburg campus from 8 a.m. to noon. Cost of the camp is $129.

The camp will be taught by Maggie Williams, a former member of the Indianapolis Colts’ Blue Stampede tumbling and stunting squad, and a former cheer captain at Baylor University.

“The biggest focus of the camp will be to get good techniques down at an early age so the students can build on that foundation,” Williams said. “Sometimes youth can develop bad technique that can hurt them if they want to cheer after high school.”

For more information or to register, contact Loraine Orellana at 979-743-5237 or lorellana@blinn.edu.
“There are cheer camps at most high schools, but with Maggie’s experience she can offer tips and techniques for cheering after high school,” Orellana said. “She could answer any questions that students may have.”
