Blinn board welcomes new trustee Charles Moser

Former Banner-Press publisher was named Blinn’s person of the year in 2014

The Blinn College Board of Trustees welcomed the newly-appointed Charles Moser during its regular meeting Tuesday night.

Blinn announced Moser’s appointment to the At-Large Position 1 at its regular June meeting.

Named Blinn’s person of the year in 2014, Moser served as editor and publisher of the Brenham Banner-Press from 1970-2010. He has served as director and president of the Texas Daily Newspaper Association (TDNA), director of the Texas Press Association, and has been a recipient of the Frank Mayborn Award for Community Leadership from TDNA and a recipient of the Lifetime Achievement in Print Journalism award from Sam Houston State University’s School of Mass Communication.

The meeting also marked the first for Dr. Mary Hensley, who began her duties as the 15th district president/CEO in the College’s 132-year history on July 1.

In other business, the board approved the purchase of a 45-passenger, $113,900 bus for transporting student groups and accepted the donation of $4,000 in office furniture for use at the Schulenburg campus.
