Director of Student Leadership and Activities invited to speak at national event in November
Mordecai Brownlee, Blinn College – Brenham campus director of student leadership and activities, was recently recognized as the best educational presenter at the regional National Orientation Directors Association (NODA) Conference in Little Rock, Ark.
Brownlee’s presentation described methods for developing an effective new student orientation at two-year colleges. As the regional showcase winner, he will make the same presentation at NODA’s national conference in San Antonio this November.
In his presentation, Brownlee said community colleges face tighter budgets in organizing their orientations than four-year colleges and universities. He encouraged better communication with other college departments so all the college’s services can be represented at orientation, a strong return on every financial investment and constant reevaluation of the entire process in search of possible improvements.
Next year’s NODA Region IV Conference will be held at The Galleria in Houston. Blinn will serve as the lead institution for two-year colleges and will coordinate seminars for community college personnel.
