Staged reading was presented at Heart of Texas Summer Reading
Blinn College-Brenham Theatre Arts Director Bradley Nies’ play “Perfect Mother” recently earned rave reviews at the Heart of Texas Summer Reading hosted by the Texas Dramatists at the Waco Civic Theatre in Waco, Texas.
The staged reading included the vocal talents of former Blinn theatre arts major Jacob Lange and current theatre arts major Jennifer Cegielski. Critics for the event included Dr. Marion Castleberry of Baylor University, Dr. David Crawford of Tyler Junior College, Mary Anzalone of Austin, Amanda Dendler of Cypress and John Lively of Austin.
Performances included “Steal Away” by John Lively of Austin, “Abounding Grace” by Dendler, “Tammy Sue’s Grand Finale” by Trey Deason of Austin, “Noah in my Bedroom” by Gary Swain of Dallas and “Gods and Idols” by Jason Rainey of Austin.
Texas Dramatists was created to foster playwrights of the greater southwest by providing performance opportunities through development, support and recognition.
