Blinn professor films online research tutorials

Videos analyze proper technique for researching academic papers

Blinn College English Professor Audrey Wick is teaching proper research methods through a series of videos on the world’s largest online library.

Wick, about to enter her 10th year as a full-time instructor at Blinn, participated in five videos produced by Hawkes Media Group and Cengage Learning to teach humanities and social science students how to understand library research, find print and web sources and evaluate sources for use in a research paper. Each of the videos, which were filmed in Boston, are about three minutes long and use virtual settings, scholarly examples and academic scenarios.

The videos will be among 50 online tutorials hosted at, an online academic library that provides books and journal articles on history, philosophy, economics, political science, English and literature, anthropology, psychology and sociology, as well as more than 6 million magazine and newspaper articles.

Wick teaches on Blinn’s Schulenburg campus. In addition to her academic responsibilities, she works with standardized test scoring through the SAT and College Board, is a freelance writer and has developed curriculum content for college publishers. Wick’s non-fiction has been published in The Houston Chronicle, Texas magazine, Texas Town and City and Mature Years, among others.
