Application deadline nears for Blinn teaching certification program

The bewitching hour is approaching for those who want to start a teacher certification program at Blinn College. The application deadline for the Teacher Education Alternative Certification Host (TEACH) program is Oct. 30. Candidates will be interviewed on Nov. 20, and those selected to the program will begin classes in January.

The TEACH program is a cooperative effort between Blinn College and local school districts to provide quality, affordable alternative teacher certification to assist in meeting area school districts’ personnel needs.

The Blinn TEACH program provides training for persons who hold a bachelor’s degree with a solid foundation in their chosen teaching area. The program offers certifications in mathematics, life science, physical science, science, Spanish, French, special education, generalist, bilingual generalist, English language arts, reading and social studies, and English as a second language generalist. Upon successful completion of the program, participants will be certified to teach in Texas.

Additional information about the program is available at www.blinn.edu/blinnteach or by calling 979-830-4424.
