Blinn makes Arnold head basketball coach

Tra Arnold

Blinn College Athletic Director David Rehr announced today that Tra Arnold is now officially the head coach of the Buccaneer men’s basketball team. Arnold was the assistant coach for five years and had served in an interim capacity as head coach since August.
He takes over a program that went 23-9 last season with freshman shooting guard Kahlil McDonald named a First Team All-Region and Third Team All-American selection. McDonald returns to lead the Bucs as they begin their 2009-10 campaign on Wednesday hosting McLennan College at 7:30 p.m.

Arnold is a native of Houston and a graduate of Clear Creek High. He played basketball for the College of Southern Idaho when the program was ranked No. 1 during 2000-2001. He also played at Biola University in La Mirada, CA, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology. He completed a master of education degree in physical education from Prairie View A&M University this year.
