Blinn lands two on All-American First Team
For their efforts in securing Blinn College’s first volleyball national championship, setter Kayla Schmidt and outside hitter Cinthya Roberto were named NJCAA Division I First Team All Americans. It is the first time two Blinn players have been selected to the First Team. The Blinn volleyball program has had nine All-Americans, eight of those during the six-year tenure of head coach and athletic director David Rehr. Schmidt and Roberto were also First Team All Region as well as All Tournament honorees at both the regional and national tournaments.
Schmidt, a 5'10"; sophomore from Bellville, was third in the nationally in assists per game, averaging 11.696. Along a .375 hitting percentage, she averaged 1.519 digs per game.

Freshman Cinthya Roberto of Brasilia, Brazil, was eighth nationally in kills, averaging 4.241 per game. The six-footer ranked in the top five in aces, averaging 0.722 per game. Roberto held a .3684 hitting percentage with an average of 2.215 digs per game.
The Lady Bucs finished the 2008 season 33-2 with a victory over the University of Arkansas-Fort Smith to earn the national title. It was Blinn’s sixth consecutive trip to the national tournament.
