Watson, Oguayo recipients of Atkinson Cup at Blinn College

Braxton Watson and Chris Oguayo are the co-recipients of this year's Dr. James H. Atkinson Cup at Blinn College, given each year to the sophomore student athlete with the highest cumulative grade point average.

Both had 3.833 GPA's in their college-level courses.

Watson, son of Chad and Christine Watson of Spring and a graduate of Spring High School, is a pitcher on the Buccaneer baseball team.

Oguayo, son of Gabriel and Agnes Oguayo of Pflugerville and a graduate of Pflugerville Connally High School, was a linebacker on the Buc football team.

The Atkinson Cup, which was begun in 2000, honors the top sophomore student athlete with the highest grade point average in college level courses with a minimum of 48 transferable hours. It is sponsored by the Buccaneer Alumni Lettermen Association and is named for the former Blinn athletic director and president, the late James H. Atkinson.
