Watson, Oguayo recipients of Atkinson Cup at Blinn College
Braxton Watson and Chris Oguayo are the co-recipients of this
year's Dr. James H. Atkinson Cup at Blinn College, given each year
to the sophomore student athlete with the highest cumulative grade
point average.
Both had 3.833 GPA's in their college-level courses.
Watson, son
of Chad and Christine Watson of Spring and a graduate of Spring
High School, is a pitcher on the Buccaneer baseball
team.
Oguayo, son of Gabriel and Agnes Oguayo of Pflugerville
and a graduate of Pflugerville Connally High School, was a linebacker
on the Buc football team.
The Atkinson Cup, which was begun
in 2000, honors the top sophomore student athlete with the highest
grade point
average in college level courses with
a minimum of 48 transferable hours. It is sponsored by the Buccaneer
Alumni Lettermen Association and is named for the former
Blinn athletic director
and president, the late James H. Atkinson.
