McIntyre takes over the Buccaneers' program
after seven years as the pitching coach for Brian Roper, who stepped
down after eight seasons to take a full-time
teaching position on the college's Bryan campus and to spend more time with
his family.
"We are fortunate that we have Coach McIntyre who is experienced
with our program and ready to step into the role of head coach," Rehr
said. "He
has great knowledge of the game and of our long and accomplished history in
junior college baseball."
He was one of three finalists for
the position that included Chattanooga State Technical College
head coach Greg Dennis and Philadelphia Phillies scout
Therron Brockish.
McIntyre, a Brenham native and 1995 graduate of Brenham High
School, played for Roper at Howard College in 1996-97. Blinn was
his first college coaching
position after graduating from Northwestern State University in Louisiana
with a bachelor’s degree in general studies. He played baseball two
years for the Demons in 1998-99. He also played for the Alexandria Aces in
the Texas-Louisiana
Independent Baseball League during the summer of 1999.
McIntyre is married
to the former Reagan Robinson. They have one daughter, Emma Kate, 1.
