Etzel recipient of Atkinson Cup at Blinn College

RaChelle Etzel, the defensive specialist/libero on the Buccaneer volleyball team, is the recipient of this year's Dr. James H. Atkinson Cup at Blinn College, given each year to the sophomore student athlete with the highest cumulative grade point average.

Etzel had a 3.914 cumulative average for her four semesters at Blinn.

The daughter of Floyd and Cheryl Etzel of Carmine is a graduate of Round Top-Carmine High School. She will transfer to Texas A&M University and pursue a degree in business management.

The Atkinson Cup, which was begun in 2000, honors the top sophomore student athlete with the highest grade point average in college level courses with a minimum of 48 transferable hours. It is sponsored by the Buccaneer Alumni Lettermen Association and is named for the former Blinn athletic director and president, the late James H. Atkinson.
