Subscription Databases for ALL Areas

Academic Search Complete is the world's largest academic multi-disciplinary database, providing full text for nearly 5,300 scholarly publications, including full text for more than 4,400 peer-reviewed journals. Coverage spans virtually every area of academic study and offers information dating as far back as 1865. This database is updated on a daily basis via EBSCOhost.

TDNet Journal Locator - Through its licenses with 10 different database providers, TexShare offers users access to abstracts and full-text articles from approximately 17,000 professional, scientific, academic, and medical journals. But because each of the database providers has its own proprietary search engine, sometimes finding a *specific* journal title or topic can be difficult. TDNet solves the problem by providing a searchable list of ALL the journal titles available to TexShare users from all of the different database providers. This list includes the available holdings and an indication if full-text is available.

Books in Print is a professional bibliographic database with over 5 million in-print, out-of-print, forthcoming, audio book and video titles. You can also locate complete publisher information including contacts with addresses.

Gale Virtual Reference Library provide electronic access the the full-text of several different Gale reference titles. List of Available Titles

InfoTrac Newspapers gives one the ability to search many newspapers world-wide for full-text articles. Cover-to-cover coverage includes the New York Times from 1996, Austin American-Statesman from 1996, Dallas Morning News from 2000, Houston Chronicle from 1996, Washington Times from 1996, The Financial Times from 1996, The Times of London from 1985, and many more.

NetLibrary provides access to over 25,000 online electronic books available through the Blinn College Library online catalog, as well as the NetLibrary website. All of the titles available through NetLibrary have been published previously in print format (i.e. no "electonic-only" publications).

Bibliography of Native North Americans is a bibliographic database covering all aspects of native North American culture, history, and life. This resource covers a wide range of topics including archaeology, multicultural relations, gaming, governance, legend, and literacy. BNNA contains more than 80,000 citations for books, essays, journal articles, and government documents of the United States and Canada. Dates of coverage for included content range from the sixteenth century to the present.

Geography

 Subscription Databases

SIRS Researcher is a database containing thousands of full-text articles exploring social, scientific, historic, economic, political, and global issues. Articles are carefully selected from domestic and international newspapers, magazines, journals, and government publications. Brief summaries accompany all articles added to the database since 1994. Images are available for some articles. Various maps of the countries and regions of the world are also available.

Texas Digital Sanborn Maps provide detailed property and land-use records that depicts the architecture of more than 12,000 U.S. towns and cities throughout the past one hundred years. The maps enable researchers to trace the architectural history of individual buildings or entire communities.

 Internet Resources

Country Studies are published by the Federal Research Division, Library of Congress. Each study offers a detailed and thorough analysis of a country, its society, political situation, military, geography, economic situation, and more. Searchable by keyword and subject.

Perry-Castaneda Library Map Collection is organized by the University of Texas. It provides access to thousands of maps and map-related resources, many of which are in the public domain.

 Subscription Databases

SIRS Government Reporter provides full text current and historical government documents, including landmark and recent U.S. Supreme Court Decisions, information about federal departments and agencies, and facts about U.S. congressional members and Supreme Court Justices.

Military & Government Collection is designed to offer current news pertaining to all branches of the military and government, this database offers a thorough collection of periodicals, academic journals, and other content pertinent to the increasing needs of those sites. The Military & Government Collection provides cover-to-cover full text for more than 350 journals and periodicals and indexing and abstracts for more than 450 titles.

 Internet Resources

USA.GOV provides access to millions of federal and state government web pages that are not generally available on commercial websites. You can also do business with the government online: you can apply for student financial assistance, buy government publications, apply for social security and other benefits, get a passport application, and more. USA.gov also has a Spanish-language web portal, Gobierno USA.gov.

GPO Access is a service of the U.S. Government Printing Office that provides free electronic access to a wealth of important information products produced by the Federal Government. The information provided on this site is the official, published version and the information retrieved from GPO Access can be used without copyright restriction, unless specifically noted.

History Study Center provides over 40,000 documents and articles, with over 50 reference works, 3,000 images and links to 2,000 Web sites. Material includes both primary and secondary sources.

World History Collection offers a global look at history with content from Africa, Asia, North and South America, Europe and the Middle East. World History Collection contains cover-to-cover full text for nearly 150 titles, including many peer-reviewed journals. Full text dates as far back as 1964.

Project MUSE offers full text articles from over 250 scholarly journals covering the fields of history, literature, visual & performing arts, cultural studies, education, political science, gender studies, economics, and many others.

Psychology & Behavioral Sciences Collection provides nearly 575 full text publications, including nearly 550 peer-reviewed titles. It covers topics such as emotional and behavioral characteristics, psychiatry & psychology, mental processes, anthropology, and observational and experimental methods. This database is updated daily via EBSCOhost.

Health & Wellness Resource Center indexes more than 700 health and medical journals and hundreds of pamphlets (of which more than 75% are full text), as well as health related articles from 2,200 general interest publications. Also includes the text of the following Gale reference titles: The Gale Encyclopedia of Medicine, The Gale Encyclopedia of Childhood & Adolescence, The Gale Encyclopedia of Alternative Medicine and Body by Design.

One can trace their family tree, research folklore topics, and trace the history of their hometown.
