How do I find books about a particular composer?

1. Select Subject

2. Type the last name, first name (ex. Mozart)

3. Click on "Search" or press enter.

How can I request books that are only availabe from another Blinn College campus?

 

1. Click on the item's request button. Requests generally take 24 hours or less to arrive at your campus library.

2. Enter your Blinn student ID number.

3. Select the pickup location and click "submit."

Note: You can also follow these steps to place a book on hold if all copies (including those from other campuses) are checked out.

MasterFILE Premier - Provides access to articles on a broad range of disciplines including music.

Project Muse - Offers citations and full text for many scholarly music related periodicals. Provided by Johns Hopkins University Press.

 

What if a periodical index does not have the entire text of an article I need?

 

If the full text of an article is not available in a library database, it is possible to check another database for the full text or determine if the library owns a print version of a publication. Refer to "Locate Journals & Magazines in the Library" for an explanation on how to find full text articles.

Classical Music Pages - Searchable by musical epoch, form (opera, symphony, etc.) and composer's name. Also contains a dictionary of musical terms, a brief history of western music, and articles about musical topics. Created by Matthew Boynick.


Classical Net - A comprehensive music site that contains a basic repertoire list, a classical CD buying guide, recommended classical cds, composer data, reviews & articles, books & scores, and classical music links.


Essentials of Music - Provides an introduction to classical music with overviews of the six main eras in music history, brief biographies of almost 70 composers,and a glossry with 200 definitions. It also contains excerpts of musical scores. A cooperative project between W.W. Norton & Co. and Sony Classical Music.
