How can I request books that are only available from another Blinn College campus?

 

1. Click on the item's request button. Requests generally take 24 hours or less to arrive at your campus library.

2. Enter your Blinn student ID number.

3. Select the pickup location and click "submit."

Periodical Indexes


Academic Search Complete - A multidisciplinary database that provides full text access to many articles in magazines, newspapers, and peer-reviewed journals in the fields of fire extinction, emergency medicine, sociology, psychology and others.

Business Source Complete - The world's most definitive scholarly business database, providing the ultimate collection of bibliographic and full text content. Contains far more active, peer-reviewed, business related journals than any other database currently available. This resource includes indexing and abstracts for scholarly business journals back to 1866.

Computer Source - This resource provides researchers with the latest information and current trends in high technology. This database offers full text for nearly 300 publications and indexing and abstracts for nearly 450 publications.

Economica y Negocios - The result of a collaborative effort between EBSCO Publishing and ESAN (Escuela de Administracion de Negocios para Graduados). This continuously updataed bibliographic database is an indispensible tool for research conducted in the areas of business and economics.

eLibrary Curriculum Edition - A multi-media database produced by ProQuest. Students find the answers they need from more than 2,000 full-text magazines, newspapers, reference books, and transcripts-plus thousands of pictures, maps, educator-approved websites from Homework Central®, plus audio/video content.

InfoTrac Newspapers - A newspaper database which offers full text articles from local and national newspapers such as the Austin-American Statesman, Bryan/College Station Eagle, Houston Chronicle, Washington Post, New York Times, The Financial Times, and The Times (London).

Internet & Personal Computing Abstracts - This database provides abstracts and indexing for literature related to personal computing products and developments in business, the Internet, the home, and all other applied areas. Over 400 of the most important trade publications, mainstream computer magazines, and professional journals are covered, including those that focus on specific topics such as Macintosh and Windows platforms, programming, web development and more.

Regional Business News - This resource provides comprehensive full text coverage for regional business publications. Regional Business News incorporates coverage of 75 business journals, newspapers and newswires from all metropolitan and rural areas within the United States. This database is updated on a daily basis.

SIRS Researcher - A general database containing thousands of full text articles exploring many topics such as arson, rescue operations, terrorism, and more. Articles are selected from domestic and international newspapers, magazines, journals, and government publications. Also provides access to images and reliable web sites. SIRS also has a companion resource just for government information SIRS Government Reporter.

Texas Reference Center -This resource includes more than 80 full text journals and books covering a multitude of topics related to Texas.

 

What if a periodical index does not have the entire text of an article I need?

 

If the full text of an article is not available in a library database, it is possible to check another database for the full text or determine if the library owns a print version of a publication. Refer to "Locate Journals & Magazines in the Library" for an explanation on how to find full text articles.

        Created by the Wall Streeet Journal. Use this resource to find information on second homes, buying & selling, building and home improvements, and a toolkit which features relocation and mortgage tools. This site also has property search feature which allows users to search for properties by city, state or zip code. RealEstateJournal also has a rental property search engine.

 

University at Albany, SUNY- Computer Science
        Use this guide to find sources on all aspects of computer science, from bibliographies to webcasts. Compiled by the University Libraries at the University of Albany

 

 Government & Law

   FindLaw
        Use this source to find sources on legal issues, including federal and state case law. FindLaw will also help you find a lawyer, based on a legal issue of interest.

 

 USASearch
        Provides access to many types of U.S. federal government documents, as well as many state government documents.

Country Studies
        From the Federal Research Division, Library of Congress. Each offers a detailed and thorough analysis of a country, its society, political situation, military, geography, economic situation, and more. Searchable by keyword and subject.


   CIA World Factbook
        From the Central Intelligence Agency. This government resource makes available detailed information and maps on countries and "non-self governing territories" around the world.


 Statistics

   

FedStats: Statistical Reference Shelf
        Billed as a "gateway to statistics from over 100 U.S. Federal agencies". This resource has both "Links to Statistics" available from a variety of different sources and "Links to Statistical Agencies" providing access to various Federal agencies' statistical information.

 

   Statistical Abstract of the United States
        From the Bureau of the Census. Published since 1878, this resource, which is updated every other year, provides statistical information on the economic, political, and social make-up of the United States.
