Welcome
to the Blinn College Library!
The Blinn College Library
will be giving walking tours of our facilities this spring beginning on
Wednesday, January 28th through, January 30th. These orientation
sessions will offer our students, in all disciplines of study, a basic
introduction to library resources and services. After touring the
facility, the library website, policies, and procedures for using our
resources will be discussed in our instructional classroom. The goal of
the walking tour, lasting about 20-30 minutes, will be to make our
students feel comfortable in coming to the library and asking for help.
Students
do not need to make an appointment prior to a walking tour,
but a blue ticket can be issued as proof of attendance, if required by
an instructor.
In collaboration with
faculty members, in-depth instructional classes are provided throughout
the semester. Instruction may vary from finding resources through the
Blinn College Library Online Catalog, locating scholarly journal
articles in our periodical databases, or evaluating the relevance and
authority of information in all its formats. All classes will be taught
in our instructional classroom with hands on activities of skills
acquired. The teaching librarian will be giving an assessment of skills
taught at the end of each instructional session. Instruction request
forms are available online through the library website.
