What is a Periodical Index?
A Periodical Index is a printed
or electronic service that allows you to look for articles from journals,
magazines, newspapers (often called periodicals or serials) on your
topic. A periodical index lists the article title and author, plus
the name, volume, pages and date of publication of periodical it was
published in. If you are using a printed index, you still have to
locate a copy of the periodical to read the article. (For help, go

Electronic Periodical Indexes
The library also subscribes
to many electronic databases, and most of them are periodical indexes.
Very often, these indexes can provide summaries of the articles, and
even the full text of articles. To access these, go to Find
Journal, Magazine, and Newspaper Articles. These electronic periodical
indexes are accessible to all Blinn College faculty, students and
staff. They are accessible both on and off campus.
