Music Meet: Solo and Ensemble Competition
This contest is open to junior and senior high school students. Students prepare solo works or small chamber ensembles and perform for a judge. The judges are Blinn College faculty and distinguished guest judges. This is an opportunity for students to receive feedback on their individual performance skills. Students receive a written critique of their performance. Selections may be selected from the UIL prescribed music list, but may also be pulled from other solo and ensemble literature.
This annual event will be held February 22, 2013. If your band students would like to take part in this event, please fill out and return the Music Meet: Solo and Ensemble Contest Entry Form no later than one month prior to the event.

Music Meet: Concert Band Contest
This contest allows concert bands the opportunity to perform for a panel of highly esteemed adjudicators. The contest is held in the O’Donnell Center for Performing Arts on the Brenham campus. Each band is allowed to both warm-up and perform on stage, allowing bands to simulate a UIL or concert experience and achieve a high quality audio CD of the event. Participants at this contest receive a CD of judges comments in addition to their performance CD. Awards are given to the most outstanding band in each class.
This annual event will be held March 20-22, 2013. If your band students would like to take part in this event, please fill out and return the Music Meet: Concert Band Contest Entry Form no later than one month prior to the event.

"Buckin' Ear" Jazz Festival
18th Annual Blinn “Buckin’ Ear” Jazz Festival
Thursday, March 7th, 2013
This annual event is open to middle school, junior and senior high jazz bands. This contest is hosted by the Blinn College Jazz Ensemble and is held at the O’Donnell Center for Performing Arts on the Brenham campus. It is a one-day festival culminating in a performance by the Blinn College Jazz Ensemble. Ensembles participating in this event receive feedback from a panel of esteemed judges and receive a CD of their performance. Judges interact with the students after each band in a sort of mini-clinic setting. Awards are given to the outstanding band in each class, outstanding soloist and outstanding rhythm section.
This annual event will be held Thursday March 7, 2013. If your band students would like to take part in this event please fill out and return the “Buckin’Ear” Jazz Festival Entry Form no later than one month prior to the event.
