Distance Education Information for Texas A&M Students

Admissions Process for taking a Distance Education Course at Blinn College

To take Distance Education courses at Blinn, you must become a Blinn student. The process begins with the Admissions Department.

1. Apply to Blinn College. You may use the forms found on the Blinn College Admissions Site or you may apply online. Clicking on either of the links will open a new window.

2. Send Blinn College an official Texas A&M transcript. To order the transcript from TAMU, you may call (979) 845-1007, Monday-Friday, 8 am - 5 pm or you may order in person by going to the Office of the Registrar. There is a fee to Texas A&M for an official transcript.

3. Self-advise by downloading Blinn’s advising form*. Once you have completed that form, return it to Blinn College. Once all documents have been received, you will be able to register in 48 hours (2 business days).

4. Determine which type of Distance Education course you wish to take (Internet, Blended, or Interactive Video).

5. Register for the course. BORIS is the Blinn Online Registration and Information System. [How do I register using BORIS?] You may also register using Telephone registration.

I am a graduating senior at Texas A&M University. Will my grade automatically be sent to Texas A&M prior to the graduation grade deadline?

No, your grade is not automatically sent to Texas A&M University. In order for your grade to be sent to A&M, there are several things you must do. Information was provided by Enrollment Services at Blinn College.

  1. Apply for graduation at Texas A&M University at the Degree Audit Office or online (opens in a new window). You will need to take a copy of your Blinn schedule or unofficial transcript with you to prove that you are enrolled in Blinn.
  2. Contact enrollment services at Blinn College. When you contact them, fill out a transcript request and tell the person helping you that you are a graduating Texas A&M student. Also on the form, make sure you check "hold for grades" and indicate that you are graduating during the current semester
  3. When you apply for graduation at Texas A&M, notify your Blinn instructor that you are a graduating Texas A&M student.

Texas A&M University and Blinn College work closely together to ensure that your grade is sent on time. However, you must do your part to ensure that you graduate during the appropriate semester.
