Students currently enrolled at Blinn College are eligible for an initial intake appointment. Frequency of sessions, approximate number of sessions or additional services will be made at that time based on the student’s concern and the available resources of Counseling Services at Blinn College.
Students meet individually with a counselor for approximately 45 minutes. All individual appointments fall within the normal Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., business hours. Academic, self-awareness, coping with stress, career and other personal concerns can all be discussed during an individual session.
Individual Counseling is short-term in nature, in a limited number of sessions. The primary goal is to help facilitate student success and focus on short term objectives. If long term counseling is needed or is beyond the scope of practice for our Counseling Services, the counselor will provide a referral list for appropriate professional or agencies in the area.
Confidentiality is respected to the limits allowed by the law. Confidentiality will also be discussed during your intake appointment. Counseling appointments and content are separate from academic records.
