Note: Workshops with fewer than four participants registered will be cancelled.

Career Counseling

Individual career counseling must be scheduled by appointment. It is not available during walk-in hours. This option should NOT be used for meeting class extra-credit requirements.

Choosing a Major – Part 1

This workshop is designed to teach students how to identify an appropriate career path based on their interests, skills, work values and personality. Attendance at this workshop is required for students wishing to take Strong Interest Inventory (SII).

CHOOSING A MAJOR – PART 2

This workshop involves a group interpretation of Strong Interest Inventory (SII) results. Participants must first attend Choosing a Major – Part 1 and must also complete the SII during a regularly scheduled testing period. Workshop times will be determined to best accommodate participant needs. Contact the Center for Student Development for additional information.

Personality and Career Choice

This workshop is based on the book Do What You Are and teaches participants how to incorporate personality in career planning. Participants will learn about preferences in work situations, problem solving, and management style, careers to consider, strengths and weaknesses, and recommendations for job search. Attendance at this workshop is required for students wishing to take the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI).

Students who wish to take the SII of the MBTI must:

be currently enrolled at Blinn
must first attend the Choosing A Major workshop or Personality and Career Choice workshop respectively, and
be able to attend a regularly scheduled testing period. Testing periods are currently scheduled for Tuesday mornings and Wednesday afternoons.
