Blinn Bucs refund card FAQ

The Blinn Bucs refund card:  The ONLY way to get your Blinn College refund.

Blinn College has contracted with Higher One to facilitate the delivery of refunds from the College to students.  The Blinn Bucs refund card will provide students with three choices for receiving their refunds.  Blinn College will NOT issue refunds, so you MUST activate your Blinn Bucs refund card and choose an option for receiving any Blinn College refund due to you.  Here is a list of answers to the most frequently asked questions about the Blinn Bucs refund card and Blinn College’s refund process:

Q - How are Blinn College refunds delivered to students?

A - Refunds are delivered to students by the option that the student chose when activating the Blinn Bucs refund card.  NOTE:  Blinn College will NOT issue refund checks, so you MUST activate your card and choose an option for receiving any College refund due to you.  Blinn College sends funds to HigherOne, who then disburses refunds to students according to the activated choice that the student has made.  TO INSURE THAT YOU GET ANY REFUND DUE TO YOU, ACTIVATE YOUR BLINN BUCS REFUND CARD AND MAKE A REFUND CHOICE. 

Q - How do I get my Blinn Bucs refund card?

A- Each Blinn College student who has registered and made payment arrangements will receive a Blinn Bucs refund card from Higher One.  Your card will arrive in the mail at your local address that you set up when you initially applied for enrollment at Blinn College.  If you did not specify a local address, your card will be mailed to your permanent address.  If you have not been carded, verify that the address we have on file for you is one where you can receive your Blinn Bucs card with Enrollment Services.

Q - I will never get a refund.  Why do I need to activate a card I do not want?

A-Even if you think that you will never get a refund from Blinn College, you do not know what may happen to your account in the future.  You might have to drop a class, a class may be cancelled, or you may receive a scholarship or some other financial award that you were not expecting; all of these events could trigger a refund.  If you have activated your Blinn Bucs refund card and chosen your preferred method of receiving your refund from Blinn College, you will receive your refund in a timely manner.  If you have not activated your Blinn Bucs refund card, remember that Blinn College does not issue refund checks.  You will not be refunded until you activate your Blinn Bucs card and choose a refund preference.  You may activate your card at www.blinnbucs.com.  It is easy and it is required!

Q - Why is there a MasterCard logo on the Blinn Bucs card?  I do not need or want another credit card.

A – As issued, the Blinn Bucs card is NOT a MasterCard debit card.  It is a refund card.  If the student chooses to open a Blinn Bucs OneAccount with Higher One; the refund card can be utilized as a MasterCard debit card.  This requires that the student take additional steps to open the Blinn Bucs OneAccount with Higher One, including student identification and verification.  This could be as simple as providing a copy of the student’s drivers license, but it could require a birth certificate, a social security card, and a current piece of mail.

Q – Why do I have a $20.00 charge on my account for a Blinn Bucs replacement card?

A - Every student receives their first Blinn Bucs card free of charge.  Higher One mails it to the address that you have provided us; it is important for you to keep your address information current with Blinn College.  Since Blinn College no longer issues refund checks, the only way for you to receive a refund is to activate your Blinn Bucs card, and choose your refund preference.  If we have to re-order your card, we must assess you a $20.00 replacement fee; that is how much the replacement card costs Blinn College. 

Q – My brother / sister / cousin attended Blinn College five years ago and they didn’t have a Blinn Bucs card; I want to be just like them, I don’t want a Blinn Bucs card.

A – Blinn College has contracted with Higher One Financial Services to outsource the delivery of Blinn College’s student refunds.  Higher One can offer more refund choices to students, and can offer quicker delivery of students’ funds through the OneAccount program.  Higher One and the Blinn Bucs card is the only way to receive your student refund; Blinn College no longer issues refund checks.
