Head Coach David Rehr
David Rehr enters his seventh season as head volleyball coach and his third as athletic director. he was named athletic director in June of 2007 and became the first head coach since Leroy Dreyer to serve in a dual role as Blinn’s athletic director and head coach.
With Rehr as athletic director, Blinn has achieved success in all sports. in 2008-09, his volleyball team won the NJCAA National championship with two All-Americans and the National Player of the Year; the football team won the Southwest Junior college Football conference posting a 9-3 record with four All-Americans and the offensive Player of the Year; and the softball team came in fourth at the national tournament finishing the year at 56-11 with two All- Americans. in addition, the men’s basketball team went 23-9 with one All-American; women’s basketball posted a 14-16 record; and baseball went 42-17 and hosted the region XIV tournament. In addition, Blinn’s cheerleaders finished second at nationals, and the dance team finished third. The move to Brenham also put him closer to family. His mother and father, Susan and John, live in Houston. He and the former Felicia Rae Robles were married in December 2005. Their first child, Noah Timothy, was born in April 2009. The native of Tampa, Fl attended Brevard community college in Melbourne, Fl, where he was a student assistant with the volleyball program. he earned his Bachelor of Science in wellness and a Master’s of Arts in physical education from the University of South Florida in Tampa. His hobbies include sports and reading.
Assistant Coach Renee Johnson
Former Blinn College volleyball player and All-American Renee Johnson returns as an assistant coach to help the Buccaneers defend their national championship. Johnson brings a sense of the history of the program and familiarity with Coach Rehr’s system. An outside hitter for Blinn in 2004 and 2005, Johnson was named an NJCAA First Team All-American and Region XIV Player of the Year. She was also selected to the All-Tournament team at the national tournament and the Region XIV All-Academic team.
Johnson played outside hitter and libero at the University of Georgia. She earned a degree in Family and Consumer Sciences in May 2009.
At Sacred Heart High School in Hallettsville, Johnson won a state title and was a TAPPS Class 2A All-State selection named to the All-State tournament team. She also earned All-State honors in softball.
She follows her sister into coaching. Robyn (Johnson) Romansky is an assistant volleyball coach at Texas A&M University. Renee joined Robyn in coaching at Texas A&M’s Youth Camp 2005-2009.
Christian Ramos
Student Assistant Coach
Christian Ramos joins the Blinn team as a student assistant coach. He played for the Gulf Coast Volleyball Association and also assisted in coaching the Top 15’s GCVA girls team. He has also assisted with Houston area volleyball camps, club teams and college. Ramos played four years with the Clear Brook High School club team in Friendswood under coach Todd Porter. He was the Incoming Player of the Year and the defensive specialist captain on his varsity squad. His club team finished 27th and 32nd at nationals and he was the starting Libero in 2008-2009.
