Head Football Coach Brad Franchione
Head coach Brad Franchione begins his third year directing the Buccaneer program, his 13th in college football. His foundation in the game has been built with input from his father, Dennis Franchione, who has been a head coach at the University of New Mexico, Texas Christian University, the University of Alabama, and Texas A&M University, but his coaching philosophy and approach to the game have been constructed by his own experience in college programs ranging from junior college to NCAA Division I.
His last station before being named head coach of the Buccaneers in January 2005 was as the defensive line coach at Texas A&M University - Commerce. In his one season with the Lions he also served as the program’s academic coordinator, travel coordinator and video coordinator.
His recruiting assignment was central Texas and Kansas junior colleges, including Blinn. Additional coaching experience has come at Bacone College in Muskogee, Okla. (2003-2004), the University of Tennessee - Martin (2002), the University of West Alabama in Livingston (2001- 2002), East Central University in Ada, Okla. (1999-2001) and Fort Scott Community College in Fort Scott, Kansas (1998). While in college he was a graduate assistant with the offense from 1996-1998 at Arkansas State University and a student coach assisting with the secondary at the University of New Mexico (1992-1996).
At Bacone College he was an associate head coach and defensive coordinator while also serving as the recruiting coordinator, helping lead the Warriors to a second-place finish in the Central States Intercollegiate Football Conference. At Tennessee - Martin he was an assistant coach working with the linebackers and the coordinating recruiting. He was also the kickoff team coach. For the Tigers of West Alabama he was an assistant coach working with the linebackers. He was also punt and kickoff teams coach. While an assistant at East Central he was the defensive line coach and recruiting coordinator for the Tigers, helping lead the 2000 team to its first winning season since 1983. He also served as the team’s academic coordinator and the special teams coordinator. His duties as an assistant at Fort Scott included working with the quarterbacks as well as the punt team and serving as video coordinator.
Franchione was born in Miller, Mo., graduated from Pittsburg (Kansas) High School, earned his bachelor’s degree in physical education at the University of New Mexico in 1996 and his master of science degree in education at Arkansas State University in 1998.
He and his wife, Rebecca, have a son, Wyatt, who is 4 and a daughter, 2-year-old Isabella. His hobbies include golf, racquetball, weight training and computers.
Lloyd Spotted Wolf
Offensive Line
Coach Lloyd Spotted Wolf begins his 12th season coaching, returning to Blinn for a third season. He joined the Blinn staff in 2006 heading up the offensive line for the National Championship team. He was promoted to offensive coordinator last season and what an explosive offensive season it was. In 2007, the Bucs offense improved from 11th in the nation in total offense in 2006 to fourth in the nation in ’07, amassing 4,331 yds and averaging 34.5 points per game. In Coach Spotted Wolf’s rookie season as a coordinator, the offense finished second in the nation in passing offense, totaling 2,463 yds and 22 passing touchdowns. The offense also generated 24 rushing touchdowns and nearly 1,900 rushing yards.
His experience includes stints in NCAA Division I, II and III, as well as high school programs. Before joining the Buccaneer staff, Spotted Wolf was the assistant head coach and offensive line coach at NCAA Division II Oklahoma Panhandle State University. In addition to his football duties, he was also the recruiting coordinator, and a health, physical education and recreation instructor.
Spotted Wolf is no stranger to championship-caliber football. For the 2003-2004 seasons, Spotted Wolf returned to his high school alma mater, La Cueva High School in Albuquerque, as an assistant, winning back-to-back 5A state football championships and amassing a 26-0 record. He was also a full-time English teacher.
Spotted Wolf was the offensive line coach and special teams coordinator for NCAA Division III University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, which won the WIAC championship in 2001. He was also an assistant men’s and women’s track and field coach, and a kinesiology lecturer.
Spotted Wolf spent three years on Rocky Long’s staff at the University of New Mexico (Division IA) working with the offensive line. He worked with two Hula Bowl selections (place kicker and deep snapper) who continued on to the NFL, as well as two all-conference linemen and two linemen who eventually played in the NFL.
Spotted Wolf has coached 14 collegiate All-Conference players and 3 All-Americans. He has also coached at NCAA Division II Adams State College, Del Norte (CO) High School, and Zuni (NM) High School.
He graduated from Adams State College with a double major in English and exercise physiology, and attained his master’s degree in sports administration from the University of New Mexico. He was a four-year letterman and three-year starter on the offensive line for the NCAA Division II Grizzlies, being named Academic-All Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
Spotted Wolf is a member of the American Football Coaches Association.
He is engaged to Ashley Klausmeyer, an alumna of Blinn College.
Keith Browning
Defensive Line
Coach Keith Browning is entering his fourth season at Blinn and his second season coaching the defensive line. In 2005 and 2006, Browning coached the running backs and tight ends. In 2005 Browning, had the privilege of coaching All-American running back James Johnson who went on to Kansas State University and is now with the Cincinnati Bengals of the NFL. In 2006, Browning coached Bernard Scott who was also a 1st Team All-American and the nation’s leading rusher. Browning moved to the defensive line in 2007 and his group led the conference in sacks, was part of the number one defense in the conference, and produced another All-American in Emmanuel Stephens who signed with the University of Mississippi. Prior to Blinn, Browning spent two seasons as a student coach and graduate assistant at Howard Payne University working with the defensive line.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Howard Payne University. Browning was a four-year letterman for HPU and 1st Team All-Conference as a player in 2001 as well as being selected as the Defensive Lineman of the Year in the conference. Coach Browning is a native of Houston and a graduate of South Houston High School.
Ronny Feldman
Quarterback/receivers/Offensive Coordinator
Ronny Feldman has 31 years of coaching and teaching experience at both the collegiate level and Texas high schools. He has a master’s degree in education and a Bachelor of Education degree from Texas State University. His 12 years at the high school coaching level include stints at Hempstead, Waller, Victoria, Klein Oak, The Woodlands, and Klein Collins. Nineteen years were at the collegiate level at Trinity Valley Community College, Texas A&M University-Commerce, the University of North Texas, the University of Tulsa, and Texas A&M University.
After being named athletic director and head football coach with the opening of the new Klein Collins High School in 2001, Feldman built a program that made the playoffs in 2004 and led the greater Houston area in total offense. He was honored as Coach of the Year by the Greater Houston Area Touchdown Club.
His collegiate career includes coordinator positions at all levels. He has also been a recruiting coordinator. His four years at Trinity Valley included two conference championships and bowl games. At the University of North Texas, Feldman’s teams made the playoffs both years and were nationally recognized for offensive achievements. His two years at Texas A&M-Commerce produced a NCAA-II playoff team. While at Tulsa University, several records were broken in the special teams area that he coached while also recruiting. The highlight of his time in Aggieland was two postseason bowl games – the Holiday and Alamo.
Feldman has coached in 21 high school playoff games or college bowl games. He also has 12 high school district and college championship titles.
Coach Feldman's family consist of his wife Cheryl and four children Ashley, Alyssa, Chandler and Sarahbeth.
Chris Smith
Running backs/Tight ends
Chris Smith is in his first year on the Buccaneer staff and will be working with the running backs and tight ends. He graduated from Charleston (Ark) High School in 2002. During his high school career, he was a three-year letterman and earned All-Conference & All-State honors as a defensive and offensive lineman. As a senior in 2001, he was selected as the Conference Outstanding Offensive and Defensive Lineman and was named to several Arkansas media all-star teams. He was also a four-year letterman, All-Conference, and All-State baseball player in high school.
Smith received a scholarship to play football for Bacone College (OK). After redshirting his first year, Chris played four seasons for the Warriors. Smith played for Coach Franchione who became the Warriors’ defensive coordinator in 2003. Smith started for three years as a defensive lineman and finished his career as the starting center. He also served as a Warrior team captain.
Smith began his coaching career at Bacone College in 2007 where he coached the Warrior running backs, assisted with special teams, and assisted with the strength and conditioning program. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Sports Management from Bacone College.
Smith is engaged to Melinda Stockalper. His parents are Bryan and Dusty Smith, and he has one sister, Kayla.
Matt Richardson
Linebackers
Matt Richardson is in his third season with Coach Franchione and the Buccaneers. Coach Richardson has moved back to linebackers coach this season. In his three seasons at Blinn, Richardson has been able to work on both sides of the ball assisting with linebackers in 2006 with the National Champion team, running backs and tight ends in 2007, and now back to linebackers. Richardson is excited to be back on the defensive side of the ball.
Prior to coming to Blinn, Richardson spent two years as a student manager working with the offensive line and running backs for the Arkansas Razorbacks.
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville.
He and his wife, Jennifer, have been married four years. Their family includes their parents James and Glenda Richardson and John and Vicki Stevens, brothers Jeff Richardson, Zach Stevens, Ryan Richardson, sister-in-law Adrienne and nieces Kayleigh and Gigi, and Kris Richardson, sister-in-law Kourtney and nephew Tracker.
Gabriel
Burks
Wide Receivers
Gabriel Burks is entering his second season coaching Blinn’s wide receivers. Burks helped an offense last season that put up some staggering statistics and guided one of the most productive wide receiver groups in the country. The graduate of Jack Yates High School in Houston was an all-district selection in football and baseball. He returns to Blinn where he played wide receiver on the 1995 squad. He transferred to Howard Payne University and then continued his playing career as a member of the Houston Wolverines of the Texas semi-pro league. Burks completed his bachelor’s degree from the University of Phoenix. He and wife Miyosha and have five children.
