The Blinn College dance team and cheerleaders traveled to SMU in Dallas July 24-26 for the National Cheerleaders Association/National Dance Alliance camp. Both teams came home very tired and sore from all their hard work, but also came home with many awards and much recognition.
This year, the Blinn Dance Team came home with a second place finish behind McLennan Community College in their team camp dance. Tressa Chivington (San Marcos, TX) was selected as All American dancer at camp.
The Blinn College cheerleaders finished 3rd in their division for the game day routine and 2nd place for their rally routine they were taught by camp staff. Nicole Allison (Cedar Park, TX), Kylie Farrell (Tomball, TX), and Reagan Hollier (Beaumont, TX) each received All American honors at camp.
Coach Karry Forsythe has two very young programs this year and it will be fun and exciting to see what they will be able to do for Blinn College.
Blinn Cheer & Dance Compete in Daytona Beach
The Blinn College Dance Team just finished their best season in Coach Karry Forsythe’s eight years. They competed this past weekend, April 9-10, at the National Dance Alliance (NDA) collegiate nationals in Daytona Beach, Florida. The dance team performed Thursday at the preliminary competition and finished 3rd in Dance Division III to move into finals on Friday. These young ladies took it upon themselves to make several changes to their choreography Thursday afternoon and evening. The dancers went out Friday morning to compete at the final competition with the determination to win. They had an amazing final performance and finished 3rd with a final score of 8.935 out of 10. As the coach of these young ladies, I could not be more proud of their heart and strength they have given me all year long. This was the teams highest score and highest finish ever. On top of our great finish this year, we were honored with being the one team out of over 200 that was selected to be on the cover of the nationals program this year.

Blinn Dance Team wins Collegiate Championship
The Blinn College Dance Team competed this past weekend at the American Dance/Drill Team Collegiate Championship in Denton. The Treasures took first place at this contest for the second year in a row. Next for the team is the NCA/NDA College Cheer and Dance Nationals in Daytona, FL, April 9-10. The dancers will be previewing their routine to the campus and community on April 6 at 6:00 in the PE gym.
Karry is in her eighth year as the coach of the Dance Team and Cheerleaders. A native of Houston, Mrs. Forsythe attended Northbrook High School where she was a member of the Bandoleras. She was major her junior year, and co-colonel her senior year.
Mrs. Forsythe was a member of the Blinn Dance Team from 1994-1995. During that time she performed under the direction of Lela Kelly. She then transferred to Sam Houston State University where she majored in Dance and graduated with a B.A. degree in May of 1999.
After graduation, Mrs. Forsythe moved to Brenham and taught dance and cheerleading for two years. Karry departed from Brenham High School to come to Blinn College in May of 2001. During her first two years here at Blinn College, Mrs. Forsythe completed her Masters of Education with an emphasis in Health.
Karry and her husband Mike now reside in Brenham. Mrs. Forsythe is looking forward to continued success here at Blinn College and also to many great years in the future.
