Coordinate scheduling for Anthropology, Geograpy, Psychology, and Sociology classes.  Process employment applications for instructors in the disciplines. Evaluate part-time faculty and assist in division activities as directed by the Division Chair.

Currently teaching multiple sections of General Psychology and Lifespan Growth and Human Development.  Responsibilities include developing PowerPoint lecture material, test material, and WebCT content for these courses, including online notes and practice exams, and discussion groups as well as managing course material, including grading exams, papers, and several in-class writing assignments.

May 2003                    Taught 3 sections of Introductory Psychology and Psychology of Adolescence at Texas A&M University.  Sole manager of all course materials, test grading, writing assignments, and internet materials for over 700 students.  Developed web resources for classes such as web-based notes, reviews, and class message board communities.

 

August 2001 -             Instructor, Psychology of Adolescence

December 2001          at Texas A&M University.  Taught an upper-level psychology course to over 100 students concerning the physical, social, and cognitive development of adolescence.  Responsibilities include constructing PowerPoint presentations and web based notes for course material as well as creating and grading tests and writing assignments for the class.

August 2002                at Texas A&M University.  Teach Introductory Psychology to over 200 students using a multimedia PowerPoint lecture format in conjunction with web based notes. In some semesters, supervise a Teaching Assistant for grade management as well as test proctoring.

May 2000                    at Texas A&M University.  Provide instruction in SAS statistical software in conjunction with materials covered in Elementary Statistics class.  Assist students in the use of web-based statistical programs for completing homework, quizzes, and tests of basic statistical knowledge.

May 2000                    at Texas A&M University.  Coordinate approximately 30 students enrolled in experimental psychology lab.  Provide guidance and instruction on APA paper formatting as well as the design and construction of basic experiments.  Help students complete group experimental project and grade APA style research papers.

Research Experience

 

Creative Cognition in Adolescents and Adults:  with Thomas B. Ward, Rebecca A. Dodds, Cynthia Sifonis.  Collected data from both college students and adolescents attending camps at Texas A&M University concerning how their use of existing concepts influences the overall creativity of products generated in imagination and generative thought tasks.  Current research focuses on how beliefs about the nature of creativity and their effects on generative thinking tasks.

9/96 – present

 

Theory of Mind and False Belief Development in Children:  with Thomas B. Ward.  Collected and analyzed data from local preschools concerning the extent to which attributions of mental states and task requirements affect false belief understanding and theory of mind development.

9/96 – 9/99

 

Infant visual perception:  with Scott Johnson and Bradley Sheese.  Assisted in construction of an infant perception lab and recruitment of local area infants from community as well as supervision of undergraduate research assistants.  Collected data from college students to prepare visual displays to use in testing infants aged two to four months.
