A Behind the Scenes Look at What a Laboratory Coordinator 
Is Responsible For

Job description:  The laboratory coordinator assists the division chair in management of material resources for laboratory activities in science instruction.  The coordinator also assists the natural science faculty in planning and preparing laboratory activities.
 

Duties Entail: Assembly and maintenance of laboratory preparations for chemistry and biology. Assisting the division chair in maintaining annual laboratory budgets. Preparation of purchase requisitions for laboratory items. Maintenance of current equipment and supply inventories. Maintenance/repairs of laboratory equipment. Arranging proper disposal of all hazardous wastes. Inspection of all safety/emergency equipment and supplies to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations. Maintenance of quality assurance records and procedures. Hiring, training and supervision of student workers in laboratory prep, maintenance and clean up. Maintaining an ongoing dialogue with faculty concerning their laboratory schedules and needs.
