CAS - Community College Aerospace Scholars

What is it?  Community College students from all over Texas gather for 2 1/2 days at Johnson Space Center.  They work in teams with students from other colleges, present the result of their work, meet and talk with people that work at NASA, and tour parts of the center that are not open to the general public.

When is it?  The dates for Blinn College are March 30 - April 1, 2006.

How do I apply?  Complete the online initial application on the CAS homepage .  When the form is completed, print the release statement, and get the completed statement along with a check for $25 (made out to JSC Exchange Store) to Kristin Stoley in L242 on the Bryan Campus.

What is the deadline?  Release statements and checks must be received by 4:00 pm, Friday, February 3, 2006.

Who can apply?  You must be a student at Blinn College in the Spring semester 2006 who is either currently enrolled in or has completed the Calculus sequence and meet the NASA requirements.  You must also be a US citizen. Calculus students will be given priority over Pre-Calculus students. Please be aware that you are making a commitment to both Blinn and to NASA by completing the application process.

What is involved? You are committing to a few hours of online pre-work before the event and to attending the actual event. The pre-work involves reading some webpages and answering questions about your readings. Blinn will provide the transportation for the entire group. The state of Texas and NASA will provide the accommodations and the meals.

For more information, read the student information at CAS or contact Kristin Stoley.
