What DO I do if . . .
I am not passing a course?
If
it is early in the semester, you can probably still pass if you study harder or
study differently.
- Meet with your teacher and
ask for suggestions in how to improve your study habits.
- Join a study group.
Listen to other students in your class and try to meet those that are
working hard and doing well.
- Check with the division
offering the course to find out what tutoring might be available. Academic Divisions
- Visit the Math Tutoring
Room if the course is a Math class.
- Visit the learning center to find out
what resources are available for this course, tutoring, videos, software,
etc. Bryan Learning Center
If
it is late in the semester, try to drop the course.
- If you drop before April
16, 2010, you will receive a grade of "W" which has no
penalty for your GPA. Go to the Admissions and Records to fill out
the correct forms and pay your fee at the Business Office.
- If you drop after the
drop date, but before the first day of finals you automatically
receive a grade of "WF". This does have a penalty for your
GPA since the hours count as hours attempted. Meet with your teacher
in person to see if you can qualify for a grade
of "WP".
If
none of the above works and you still fail the course,
it is not the end of the world. Register for the course again next
semester and plan on working hard starting with the first class day. If
you earn a better grade the second time, this is the grade that will be used
when your Blinn GPA is calculated.
