What DO I do if . . .

    I miss a class?

First, you must understand that it is YOUR responsibility to learn the material that you missed -- it will NOT be covered again during class time.  When the class next meets you WILL be expected to turn in any assignments due at that time.

Suggestions on how to learn the material:

Read or watch any recordings that your teacher may post of the lecture.

Read the section(s) in your textbook and any handouts provided by the teacher and take notes on what you do and do not understand.

Call a friend that is also in the class and arrange to make a copy of his / her notes.   Make notes on what you do and do not understand.

Attempt the homework problems that were assigned for this / these section(s) and get help working the assigned problems.  Make notes on what you do and do not understand.  Use the help available in MathXL or any other computer tutorials that are available.

Once you know what material you missed and what you do and do not understand, get help on the material you still do not understand.

Visit your teacher during office hours.

Make an appointment to visit your teacher at a time other than office hours.

Join a group of other students in the class that are working on the same material.  You may want to post questions on the discussion forums in eCampus if these are available to you.

Go to the Math tutoring room (if it was a math class you missed) and get help on the missed material.   Math and Engineering

Go to the Learning Center and get help on the missed material. Bryan Learning Center

Be sure that you have competed any assignments due on the day you missed and contact your teacher to see if they will still be accepted -- do this BEFORE the next class period.

Be careful about missing classes.  If you accumulate 2 weeks worth of absences (4 class days in a MW or TTh course or 3 class days in a summer semester) you will be dropped from the class.  In a blended class, missing any 4 online assignments or a test also counts as one absence.
