Rhoda Segur was born in Denver, Colorado.  While she was growing up she lived all over the U.S., and she graduated from high school in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.  After finishing a B.A. at Penn State in Sociology and Anthropology, she moved to Mexico and lived there most of the time until coming to Bryan, Texas.  She has also lived and worked in New Orleans, Louisiana, and Buffalo, New York.

In 1978 Ms. Segur completed a M.A. in Linguistics at the State University of New York at Buffalo.  Ms. Segur has also worked in Central America and South America, and traveled in Europe.  When she was living in Mexico for most of 20 years, she studied Spanish. In Mexico City she taught English as a foreign language at a large binational center that had over 10,000 students a semester.  She also taught graduate courses in linguistics at the University of the Americas, English and language teaching methods at a tourism school, and other courses at other language institutes in Mexico City.

Ms. Segur has taught educational technology laboratories at Texas A&M University. She has studied Spanish grammar and literature, adult education, and distance education at Texas A&M.

At Blinn College, Ms. Segur teaches all four of Spanish courses offered in the Division of Humanities.  She also teaches two ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) courses at Blinn College.  During her professional life she has had many inspiring teachers and intelligent, challenging students.  Her goal is to help you enjoy your classes and learn what you need to know quickly and easily.
