English 1301 is writing-intensive, first-semester
freshman composition focusing on the writing of researched argumentative,
expository, and persuasive papers. The course emphasizes analytical
reading skills, critical thinking, and library-based research skills
are emphasized. Essays, including a 2,000-word documented research
paper, are required.
The pre-requisite for taking 1301 is passing the
Writing portion of TASP or proof of exemption, or passing English
0321 with a grade of “C” or better. English 1301 is
a Core Course in the 42-hour Core Curriculum of Blinn College.
