Brazos County Campuses- CIRT Coordinator, Ms Kim Boetger

Photo of Ms. Kim BoetgerWelcome to Blinn College in Bryan, TX. It is with pride that I introduce you to Blinn’s Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT). The idea for CIRT came about in 1999 and by the year 2001, the team was formed and trained. As you can see by our mission and information statements, we are a group of dedicated volunteers that assist the campus police in the event of a critical incident. The CIRT operates under the authority of campus police.

Our mission is to help in the continuing effort to provide for a safe and secure environment for our students, faculty, staff, and visitors.  To achieve our mission, Blinn College has developed a plan in partnership with police, faculty, staff, students and local emergency agencies to respond to any critical incident that may occur on our campuses.

Blinn College Critical Incident Response Team is comprised of over 30 faculty & staff volunteers committed to respond during a critical incident.  The Critical Incident Response Team is a group of volunteers trained to assist in mitigation, response, and recovery processes of critical incidents.  While not trained to be police officers, firefighters, or medical personnel,  the team members have immediate communication access to trained professionals.

Upcoming Public Events:

  • Automated External Defibrillators (AED) – What, When & How: by The Blinn College Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT). This training will be on Friday, April 19, from 1:30 to 2:30 pm, in S-218. This is not a certification course but simply an awareness program about what an AED is, when and how to use it. The AEDs on campus are designed for use by the public so one does not have to be a healthcare professional to use an AED. This is an opportunity to build your confidence if you should have to render aid. This training is open to Blinn Faculty and Staff.
