Frequently
Asked Questions:
How many TExES/ExCET
tests do I take? Applicants must
take at least 2 tests (content teaching field and Pedagogy and
Professional Responsibilities). Foreign language (Spanish, French)
and Bilingual applicants must take a third test (Texas Oral Proficiency
Test - TOPT or Bilingual Target Language Proficiency Test - BTLPT).
When do I take
my TExES/ExCET tests? Applicants
will take each test during or after each phase of training. During
or after phase I (content class), applicants will take the content/teaching
field TExES. During or after phase II (online PPR class), applicants
will take the PPR TExES.
May I test
in any area that I desire? No, you
may only test in areas that you have been trained and for which
you have been previously approved. You will not be allowed to
register for an exam for which you have not been previously approved.
Where can I
find information on testing sites, fees, registration bulletins,
study guides, etc? Please see the
ETS official website: http://www.texes.ets.org
When can I
challenge exams outside my area? Once
you possess a standard certificate, you may challenge any exam,
choosing "Additional Certification by Examination Only"
as the reason for testing when registering.
